Six Gulls Named 2020 Football Captains

ENDICOTT FOOTBALL ALL-TIME CAPTAINS LIST

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott football head coach Paul McGonagle and his coaching staff are proud to announce that rising seniors Dylan Bonfilio (Burlington, Mass.), Kyle Brennan (New Fairfield, Conn.), Kevin O'Brien (Braintree, Mass.), Sam Opont (Bridgeport, conn.), Riley Shanley (Simsbury, Conn.), and Mehdi Squalli (Rochester, N.Y.) have been named captains for the 2020 season.

"As a staff, we are very excited and happy for these young men and think the team voted for a great group of captains to help set the standard for our program going forward," said McGonagle. "This group comes from different backgrounds but together their shared perspectives will effectively lead our team, especially during this trying time, headed into and throughout the 2020 season."

NEED TO KNOW

  • All six student-athletes are first-time captains at Endicott.
  • This is the second season in a row the football program has selected six captains (tied for the most ever).
  • This group of Gulls makes up the 18th class of captains in program history.
  • In terms of positions, Endicott's 2020 class of captains covers the quarterbacks, offensive line, linebackers, defensive line, wide receivers/tight ends, and safeties groups, respectively.
  • This set of captains will be looked upon to continue Endicott's winning ways under Coach McGonagle since he took over the program in 2018 (16-6 overall, 11-2 conference).
