Women’s Track & Field Wins Gordon Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. – The Endicott women's track and field team placed first overall at the Gordon College Invitational on Saturday evening at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

Endicott bested eight other teams in the field – including several Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) programs – scoring 156 points behind 28 top-10 finishes, five first place performances, and two school records.

Following the Gulls in respective order were the University of New England (134), Gordon (117), Suffolk (101), Plymouth State (69), NVU-Johnson (9), Wentworth (9), Nichols (7), and Eastern Nazarene (6).

Yesterday's win marks the second time in the five-year history of the program that Endicott has captured top honors at an outdoor meet. The Gulls' first-ever victory occurred on April 5, 2019, at the Regis Spring Classic.

FIRST PLACE FINISHES

  • Gates MacPherson (Thorold, Ontario) won the discus with a school record heave of 110-feet and 5-inches.
  • Endicott's 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Sarah Aylwin (Topsfield, Mass.), Ava Esmay (Underhill, Vt.), Kinneal Dickens (Merrimac, Mass.), and Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine) led the field in 52.94-seconds.
  • Bianca Del Maestro (Malden, Mass.) paced three other Gulls and 11 student-athletes total in the 100-meter hurdles (16.77).
  • Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.) topped 14 competitors in the 400-meter dash (1:02.38, school record is 1:02.11).
  • Aylwin won the pole vault on jumps against D'Angelo as both Gulls cleared 9-feet and 0.25-inches.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES

  • Dickens shined in the field events with runner-up marks in the long jump (16-1, school record) and triple jump (32-7.75).
  • Esmay (17.56), Aylwin (17.75), and D'Angelo (18.05) finished second, fourth, and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles.
  • MacPherson also ranked fifth in the shot put with a toss of 30-feet and 0.75-inches.
  • Rischitelli came in third place in the 400-meter hurdles (1:15.81), while Kira Charrier (Dartmouth, Mass.) was fourth (1:17.48).
  • The duo joined Kaylee Carver (Abington, Mass.) and Alexa Flewelling (Peabody, Mass.) for a second place finish in the 4x100-meter relay (53.53).
  • Charrier ranked fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:06.12), while Carver was sixth in the 200-meter dash (29.24).
  • Aylwin (15-6.25), D'Angelo (15-0), and Kelsey Hunter (Simi Valley, Calif.) were fourth, seventh, and eighth (14-10) in the long jump.
  • Hunter also came in fifth in the triple jump (31-0.50).
  • Del Maestro (4-9), Flewelling (4-9), and Kate Sullivan (Northampton, Mass.) were fourth (on jumps), fifth, and eighth (4-7) in the high jump, respectively.
  • Gabrielle Page (Londonderry, N.H.), Hannah Risko (Albany, N.Y.), Brianna am Ende (East Lyme, Conn.), and Catherine Schultz (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (4:44.53).
  • am Ende and Risko finished seventh (5:22.12) and ninth (5:22.59) in the 1,500-meter run.
  • Colleen McLaughlin (Ipswich, Mass.) placed sixth overall in the 100-meter dash (14.08).

Endicott will compete in the Saint Joseph's (Me.) Invitational on Saturday, April 16.
