BEVERLY, MA - Jillian Zagura (Hudson, Ma/Hudson) notched a hat trick to help Endicott defeat Salve Regina University, 7-0, Saturday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinal match at a snowy Endicott Stadium.
Zagura netted a pair of first-half goals and the Gulls (13-3-1) poured it on in the second half, scoring five times to advance to the semifinals versus No. 4 Roger Williams, who beat Colby-Sawyer, 2-0. The game will be Wednesday at Endicott Stadium (time TBA).
Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) set up Zagura 10 minutes into the game and the senior midfielder lofted a left-footed shot from just outside box over Salve goalkeeper Nicole Ferreira's (Tivertron, RI/Tiverton) head.
Hunt assisted on Zagura's second tally at the 25:10 mark of the first on a through ball that Zagura one-timed into the back of the net from the six-yard line.
Weber picked up her second assist of the game this time setting up Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) five minutes into the second half. Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) scored back-to-back goals to put Endicott up 5-0 two minutes later on passes by Katie Cederberg (Grafton, MA/Grafton) and Erica Hunt (Colchester, VT/Colchester). Zagura netted her third of the game in the 56th minute and Kelly Dillon (Franklin, MA/Franklin) rounded out the scoring while Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY/F.D. Roosevelt) made three saves to record the shutout.
