BIDDEFORD, ME - The University of New England gave Endicott all it could handle but sophomore striker Paula McGinn's (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) two goals propelled the Gulls to a 2-1 overtime win Wednesday afternoon.
Endicott (10-2-1, 10-0-0 CCC) clinched the Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season title. The University of New England dropped to 7-6-1 (5-4-1 CCC) with the loss.
The Nor'Easters grabbed a 1-0 halftime advantage and held the lead until the 86th minute when McGinn struck from just inside the box on a feed from sophomore midfielder Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West).
McGinn did not waste any time clinching the title. After a corner kick, McGinn scored on a scramble inside the box in the 94th minute. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Clark (West Newbury, MA/Pentucket Regional) recorded the assist on the game-winning goal, which was McGinn's 15th of the season.
