BEVERLY, MA - After playing to a draw in the first half, Endicott College netted a pair of second half goals to defeat Nichols College, 3-1, Saturday on Homecoming Night at Endicott Stadium in a CCC contest.
The teams traded scores in the first half on goals by Endicott's sophomore striker Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical), which was set up by Kim Shields (Pomfret, CT/Woodstock Academy), and Nichols' Johanna Murphy (Dudley, MA/Shepherd Hill) 30 seconds later.
The Bison goal was the only goal scored at Endicott Stadium in seven games this season and the first since Williams beat Endicott, 3-1, in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2004.
Midfielder Erica Hunt (Colchester VT/Colchester) didn't waste any time in recording the game-winning goal in the second half. Hunt potted her second goal of the season 1:20 into the second half on a feed from Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West). Hunt struck again with 37:53 to play in regulation when McGinn set up the sophomore with a perfect through ball inside the box.
Junior netminder Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park, NY/F.D. Roosevelt) made three saves in all and pitched a shutout in the second half.
The Gulls return to action Wednesday when they travel to the University of New England (3:30 pm).
