Bristol, R.I. – Endicott College maintained its perfect The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) record, improving to 10-0 with an 11-5 win over the Roger Williams women’s lacrosse team Tuesday afternoon on Bayside Field.

Hat tricks by Gulls’ sophomore Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.), sophomore Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.), and junior captain Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) helped the Gulls defeat the Hawks.

The game started off quickly, when with just 1:30 off the clock, Gulls senior Molly Sowles (Yarmouth, Maine) scored the first goal of the game, off an assist by classmate Kellie Cunningham (Derry, N.H.). The game slowed down after that, with the next goal being scored eight minutes later by Cunningham.

The Hawks were finally able to get onto the board when senior Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal at 13:41. That would be the Hawks only tally of the half, while Gulls’ DeShaw notched two goals in the last four minutes bringing the score to 5-1 at halftime.

Tierney started off the second half for the Gulls with an unassisted goal just over a minute in, followed by a goal by Davis 40 seconds later. The score was 7-1 in favor of Endicott when the Hawk offense came alive and three straight goals were scored by freshmen Danielle Neagle (Avon, Conn.), Catherine Smeykal (Collegeville, Pa.), and junior Danica Delia (Norwalk, Conn.), bringing Roger Williams within three.

Yet that would be as close as the Hawks would get. Endicott’s Tierney interrupted the Hawks’ rally with another goal. Senior Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) scored the Hawks’ final goal of the game off an assist from Halliday. Davis, DeShaw, and Tierney each scored their third goal of the game in the last eight minutes for Endicott, bringing the final score to 11-5.

Gull junior goalkeeper Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) received the win with eight saves, while Hawk sophomore Justine Sullivan (Norwell, Mass) took the loss with 13 saves.

Roger Williams’ (10-6, 7-3 TCCC) next game is at home against Regis College on April 23rd at 4:00 p.m., while Endicott College (11-4, 10-0) travels to Western New England College on April 23rd for a 1:00 p.m. game.
