Women's lacrosse picked to win sixth straight conference crown
2011 TCCC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll

Springfield, Mass. -
Five-time champion Endicott College has been selected as the favorite to win the 2011 The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women’s lacrosse championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league’s head women’s lacrosse coaches.

Endicott (16-5, 11-0) received 11 of 12 first-place votes in the 2011 TCCC preseason poll. Roger Williams was selected as the runner-up and received the lone remaining first-place vote. University of New England was slotted third, while Western New England and Curry were selected to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.

Teams received 12 points for every first place vote received, 11 points for second place votes, 10 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.

The Gulls clinched their fifth straight conference crown and NCAA Division III Tournament berth last season after posting an unblemished conference record for the third year in a row. Second year head coach Meghan Fitzgerald was named TCCC Coach of the Year while six student-athletes garnered all-conference recognition. Two – senior Valerie Feldman (Albany, N.Y.) and sophomore Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) – were named Second Team All-Region.

Once again, the 2011 non-conference schedule features matchups with nationally-ranked opponents from throughout the region.  Endicott takes on No. 19 Bowdoin (March 15), No. 7 Trinity (March 17), and No. 16 Babson (March 20) in their first three non-conference games of the season before an April 14 matchup at No. 12 Tufts.
