Brunswick, Maine – The Endicott women’s lacrosse team was unable to climb out of an early 4-0 hole, eventually falling to No. 15 Bowdoin, 15-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Ryan Field. Ten different players scored for the Polar Bears, who improved to 2-0 with the win. The Gulls (1-1) suffer their first setback of the season with the loss.

Katy Dissinger (Upper Brookville, N.Y.) led Bowdoin with a hat trick while Elizabeth Clegg (Hudson, Ohio) added a goal and two assists. Chelsea Albright (East Lyme, Conn.), Katie Stewart (Chevy Chase, Md.), and Carolyn Gorajek (Highstown, N.J.) had two tallies apiece while first-years Jordan Smith (Glen Ridge, N.J.) and Olivia King (Georgetown, Mass.) recorded their first career goals for the Polar Bears.

Junior attack Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.) led the Gulls with a pair of scores.

Katie Stewart scored twice to spark Bowdoin's 4-0 outburst in the opening 12:51, but Endicott goals from DeShaw and Molly Sowles (Yarmouth, Maine) quickly cut the lead in half through the period. The Polar Bears responded with another four-goal surge, capped by Clegg's goal, to take an 8-2 lead at intermission.

DeShaw's second goal early in the second half made it 8-3, but McKenna Teague answered for the hosts just 22 seconds later to key a 3-0 run that extended Bowdoin's lead to 11-3 with 18:17 remaining.

Bowdoin's defense, led by Stewart's four caused turnovers and three ground balls, forced 21 Endicott turnovers overall. Alexandra Brown made six saves and permitted three goals in 41:43 before giving way to Tara Connolly who made two stops and allowed two goals over the final 18:17.

Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) and Kellie Cunningham (Derry, N.H.) each scored from the free position in the final eight-plus minutes. Davis added three draw controls while Cunningham paced the Gulls with four ground balls.

Leah Neff (South Berwick, Maine) was peppered for 34 shots including 33 on goal. The junior goalkeeper finished with 16 saves.
