Babson Park, Mass. –
Despite a 7-5 halftime lead, the Endicott women’s lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Babson, 11-10, in a Sunday afternoon non-conference matchup at MacDowell Field. Babson rattled off four unanswered goals in the final eight minutes to take the lead for good.

The Beavers were led by junior Colleen Mulligan (Hanover, Mass.) and senior Alyssa Hood (Newport, R.I.) who combined for seven goals. With the win, Babson improves to 3-3 on the season while Endicott dips to 2-3.

Endicott took the early 3-0 lead when sophomore Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) put the Gulls on the board just 44 seconds in followed by two free-position goals from junior Morgan DeShaw (Danville, N.H.).

Senior Ellen McCurdy gave Babson their first tally with a free-position goal of her own at 23:05 followed by a goal from first-year Morgan Lockwood (Feeding, Hill, Mass.) to make the score 3-2. An Endicott goal by senior Kellie Cunningham (Derry, N.H.) followed by a pair of Babson goals from Mulligan and sophomore Jamie Spang (Kennebunk, Maine) tied the game 4-4 with 14:50 remaining in the first half.

The Gulls then went on to outscore Babson, 3-1 in the remaining minutes taking the 7-5 lead at the half. Davis and DeShaw each connected once before Kelly Tierney’s (South Hadley, Mass.) tally at 6:09 capped the first half scoring.

The two teams traded the first four goals of the second half allowing Endicott to keep their two goal cushion, 9-7, with 8:12 remaining in the game. In the next four minutes, Babson scored four unanswered goals to take their first lead of the game.

Unassisted goals by Hood and junior Erin Daley (Darien, Conn.) would tie the game 9-9 and Mulligan would give the Beavers the lead, 10-9, with 6:18 remaining with a free-position goal to the lower left corner. Hood scored her final goal of the game at the 4:09 mark to give Babson the two goal lead, 11-9.
Endicott would not give up as senior Molly Sowles (Yarmouth, Maine) would receive a feed from Cunningham to cut the lead to one, with just 40 seconds remaining.

Sowles then caused a Babson turnover with 12 seconds left to give her team possession in the final seconds. Senior Brooke Neuman would try to tie the game up as she took a shot with three seconds on the clock, however Babson senior goalkeeper Sarah Macary (Woodbury, Conn.) was there to make the save as time expired.

Mulligan led all players with four goals shooting 2-2 from free-position range. Hood followed with three goals and one assist and three draw controls. Ellen McCurdy, Daley, Spang and Lockwood would each chip in with one goal. Defensively the Beavers were led by senior Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who finished with three caused turnovers. Macary made five saves in net and led all players with four groundballs.

Endicott was led by Davis and DeShaw who finished with three goals each. Sowles, Cunningham, Tierney, and senior Carin Czerniawski (Monroe, Conn.) each tallied one goal while Davis led all players with five draw controls.  Junior goalkeeper Leah Neff went the distance in goal making two saves.
