BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 11 Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Suffolk University, 3-2, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Friday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Suffolk broke open the deadlocked contest with a power play tally just 1:51 into the second stanza.
Endicott responded with back-to-back goals from Samantha Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.) at 7:38 and Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) on the power play at 13:32 to take a 2-1 lead.
The Gulls' momentum didn't last for long, however, as Suffolk answered 1:18 later to even up the game at 2-2.
In the third, Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) pushed Endicott ahead for good with her seventh career game-winning goal (fourth this season) with 1:03 remaining in regulation.
Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas) made 26 saves on 28 shots (.929), including 13 in the third to secure the victory (10-3-0) for the Gulls.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 13-4-0 all-time against the Rams.
- Jess Burwell (Hooksett, N.H.) played in her 100th career game tonight.
- Burwell is the 11th student-athlete in program history to achieve the feat.
- Hall notched her sixth career goal against Suffolk (10 games).
- Jo Wimler (Portland, Conn.) went 9-for-13 at the faceoff dot.
- Hall finished the game with three points (1g, 2a; second 3-point game this season).
- The Gulls are 9-1-1 at home this season.
