BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated No. 11 Bowdoin, 5-3, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at the Sidney J. Watson Arena.
The Gulls got on the board just over 5 minutes into the first period as Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) got the scoring started after she picked up a loose puck on the right post and fired home her sixth goal of the season. Just 19 seconds later, Teaghan Hall (West Springfield, Mass.) doubled Endicott's lead after she stole the puck from a Polar Bear defender and was able to beat the goalie low.
Endicott raced out to a 3-0 lead in the second period after Maddie DiNardo (Topsfield, Mass.) fired home her first of the season following a scramble in front of the Bowdoin crease just over a minute in. Morris potted her second of the contest after a Bowdoin turnover in the middle of the ice and had a one-on-one opportunity which she buried top shelf.
No. 11 Bowdoin continued to fight showing why they were undefeated, scoring the next three goals in the contest and cutting it to a one-goal game with 10 minutes to play in the third period. Ella Rago (Westford, Mass.) stopped all of Bowdoin's momentum in the game as she found the back of the net with 8:41 to play and regained Endicott's two-goal advantage.
From there, the Gulls defense locked down Bowdoin the rest of the way allowing just two shots on goal and blocking two shots.
Casey Moritz (Trophy Club, Texas.) stopped 16 shots in the victory as her record improved to 6-3-0 on the season.
