No. 12 Endicott, Western New England Skate To 1-1 Tie; Gulls Earn Extra Point In Shootout

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 12 Endicott women's ice hockey team tied Western New England, 1-1, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday evening at Raymond J. Bourque Arena. The Gulls grabbed the extra point in the conference standings with a 3-2 victory in the shootout.

Rivers Morris (Braintree, Mass.) opened the scoring with an unassisted tally for the Gulls 4:11 into the opening period.

Through two periods, Endicott was aggressive on offense, dominating in shots on goal (28-17), with Lily Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) (5), Ella Rago (Westford, Mass.) (4), and Morris (4) led the attack, but was unable to break the 1-1 tie going into the final period.

Around 15:20 into the third, Morris almost notched her second goal of the game and the possible game-winner with a shot from the high slot, but it rang off the crossbar keeping the game knotted 1-1 where it stayed, forcing the contest to go to overtime.

Both goalies stopped quality scoring chances in overtime leading to the shootout round where Endicott (3/6) ended up on top.

Joey Brown (Scituate, Mass.) and Rago scored shootout-tying goals, while Lilly Corso (Winchester, Mass.) provided the game-winner.

In goal, Lauren Ferrari (Bridgewater, N.J.), made 25 stops on 26 shots (.962) to push her record to 5-1-1 on the season. Ferrari also saved four out of six chances during the shootout.
