Feb. 28, 2005
February 25, 2005 - The Endicott women's basketball season is not over as they were selected this morning for the 2005 ECAC Division III Women's New England Basketball Championship. The tournament is an eight-team field with a final four format. The 18-9 Gulls received a 7th seed and will travel to 2nd seeded Mount Holyoke on Wednesday for a 7:00 tip off. After falling short to Gordon in the semifinals of the CCC tournament last week, the Gulls are anxious to vie for another championship this week.
This is the first ever ECAC bid for the Gulls who have had their best season yet under second year head coach Jennifer Lucey. EC and Mouth Holyoke have had similar seasons. Both teams won their regular season conference title and both fell short in the playoffs, losing in the semifinal round. This is the second year in a row Mount Holyoke will host an ECAC tournament game. Last year, the Lyons were seeded fourth and fell to visiting Colby-Sawyer in the quarterfinal round.
The winner of Wednesday's game will travel to top-seeded Brandeis for the semifinals and finals on Friday and Saturday, March 4-5.
