Henniker, NH - Endicott continued on their winning streak defeating New England College, 66-54, tonight. This victory marks the first time in school history that the women's basketball team has won 8 games in a row. The previous record was set in 2002-2003.
New England College stormed out to a 15-3 lead in the first 8 minutes of the game. Endicott slowly began to chip away at the lead as Liz Yuneman drained three 3's on her way to a career high 25 point performance. Tough shooting in the 1st half (28% from the field) allowed NEC a 31-23 lead going into halftime.
Endicott came out with new vigor in the 2nd half. The Gulls went on an 11-2 run to take their first lead of the game, 34-33, 6 minutes into the 2nd half. Jodi Brown and Holly Beth Wojcik each tallied 2 baskets in the run and the Gulls took the lead on a 3-pointer by Yuneman. Endicott redeemed themselves in the 2nd half, improving to 58% shooting from the field while also shooting 60% from behind the arc. The Gulls held NEC to 23 points while tallying 43 points of their own.
Strong play by Wojcik (10 points) and Aubrey Drugan (9 points, 3 steals, 2 assists) also contributed to the win.
Angela Cluche (16 points, 8 rebounds), Danielle Tetreault (14 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) and Laura Mahoney (14 points) led the way for NEC who fell to 9-9 overall, 5-5 in the conference.
Endicott's record now stands at 9-1 in the CCC; 11-7 overall. The Gulls return home on Saturday for a 1:00 game against Nichols College.
