Boston, MA - Junior guard Liz Yuneman scored 23 points on 6-for-11 shooting as Endicott won its 13th consecutive game, holding off Wentworth, 53-46, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Tansey Gymnasium. The victory marks the first time in school history the Gulls (16-7, 14-1) have won more than 15 games in a season.
The Gulls opened the game on a 13-4 run over the first 6:21 before the Leopards used a 6-0 spurt to cut the lead to 13-10 with 9:31 left. Endicott would increase its lead to as much as eight on four occasions, the last time coming on a pair of free throws from Yuneman with 1:45 left, and would lead 31-25 at the half.
Back-to-back trifectas by Yuneman and a three by junior guard Jodi Brown to open the second half gave the Gulls their largest lead of the game at 13 (40-27) with 16:56 to play. However, Wentworth fought back, outscoring Endicott, 15-4 over the next 9:40 to trim the lead to two (44-42) with 7:17 left. During the run, freshman forward Emily Cring scored 10 points.
However, this was as close as the Leopards would get, as the Gulls increased their lead to five twice and got a key lay-up from Brown down the stretch to hold off Wentworth.
Brown chipped in with 12 points and a team high nine rebounds, while sophomore guard Lisa Chartier scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds. For Wentworth, Cring scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had four assists, while sophomore forward Cheyenne Noble scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.
