MAHWAH, N.J. - The fifth-seeded Ramapo College Roardrunners defeated twelve-seed Endicott College, 3-0 (30-28, 30-26, 32-30), to advance to the second round of the 2008 NECVA Championships.
Tom Kohler (East Brunswick, N.J.) led the Roadrunners with 15 kills and senior opposite Brendan Whitford (Lyndhurst, N.J.) added ten in the team's 28th win of the season. Jairo Sierra (Fair Lawn, N.J.) dished out a team-high 46 assists and Dan Sempkowski (East Brunswick, N.J.) led the defense with seven digs. Ramapo combined for 49 kills on 115 attempts with 29 errors hitting .174 in the match.
Endicott was paced by reigning AVCA National Player of the Week AJ Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.). The sophomore middle led the Gulls' attack with 18 kills. Sophomore classmate Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.) handed-out 39 assists in the losing effort.
With the win the Roadrunners advance to play \#4 Stevens Institute on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Endicott now awaits a bit to the ECAC Tournament next week.
