Endicott rallies, knocks-off No. 14 Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - Endicott College erased a two games to none deficit, rallying to defeat 14th-ranked Rivier College, 3-2, on Thursday night in Nashua, N.H. With the win, Endicott improves to 16-14 overall (7-3 NECVA).

After dropping the first two games by the scores of 21-30 and 26-30, Endicott rattled off wins of 30-20 and 30-28 to force game five. In the decisive game, the Gulls rallied from deficits of 6-2 and 12-9 to steal a 16-14 win.

A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.) was a monster upfront for the Blue and Green, nailing 26 kills, eight digs and seven blocks in the win. Tim Lyons (Haverhill, Mass.) and John Emery (Westford, Mass.) also had excellent performances, notching 12 and 13 kills for the visitors.

Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.) racked-up 64 assists and 11 digs, while Dan Coleman (Millis, Mass.) had 26 digs for the Gulls. James Sliva (Monroe, Conn.) also played excellent defense, notching nine blocks in the road victory.

Endicott returns to action on Saturday evening as the Gulls square-off with Elms College in a match with heavy playoff implications. A win would most likely lock-up a playoff berth for the Gulls. Match time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Chicopee, Mass.
