BOSTON, Mass. - The Endicott College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Emmanuel College in each team's season opener on Wednesday night in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Saints opened the contest by grabbing a 30-23 win in game one to pull ahead 1-0. Emmanuel continued rolling in game two, scoring a decisive 30-19 victory over the Gulls. Endicott refused to go quietly, however the Saints completed the sweep with a 32-30 game three win.
Endicott was led by A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who notched 10 kills, 10 digs and two blocks in the losing effort. Dan Coleman (Millis, Mass./Millis) recorded 14 digs while Jeremy Hamel (Industry, Maine/Mount Blue) dished out 24 assists. Junior Mike Meredith (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) also chipped in seven kills for the Blue and Green.
Emmanuel was guided to victory by a pair of freshmen in Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif./San Luis Obispo) and Keoni Rabaino (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills). Abram registered 12 kills while Rabaino had 10 kills and three solo blocks for the Saints. Sophomore Taylor Lowe (Malibu, Calif./Malibu) had 33 assists in the win.
Endicott (0-1, 0-0 NECVA) looks to rebound on Tuesday night as the Gulls make their home debut against Elms College at 7:00 pm.
