BEVERLY, MA - Johnson & Wales University came off the bus hitting at a .250 clip in the first game and used that momentum to defeat Endicott College, 3-1, going away in NECVA men's volleyball action Wednesday night.
Benjamin Davies (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) led JWU with 16 kills while Sean Lauro (West Roxbury, MA/Catholic Memorial) and James Collins (East Hartford, CT/East Hartford) each added 14 kills in the win that put the Wildcats at 12-5 overall and 4-1 in NECVA play. Albert Trevino (San Antonio, TX/Holy Cross) also had a hand in the win, dishing out 57 assists
Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) led all players with 17 kills (.438 hitting percentage) but it was not enough as the Gulls dropped to 10-14 overall and 5-5 in the NECVA.
Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville) added 13 kills, four blocks and two aces for Endicott on the strength of Jeremy Hamel's (Industry, ME/Mount Blue) 54 assists. Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis), who earned NECVA Rookie of the Week honors came through with 26 digs while Tim Lyons (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) chipped in four blocks. Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) contributed 12 kills in the loss.
Endicott will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon when it hosts Lasell College (1:00).
