NEWTON, MA - Just seven matches into his career, Endicott men's volleyball team outside hitter Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton) is making a name for himself in New England volleyball.
Friday night, Ostrander solidified that image in the Gulls' 3-0 victory at Mount Ida College.
He recorded 13 kills on 17 attempts with just one error while picking up three aces. All three games were decided by a 30-20 margin as Endicott, which is ranked No. 12 in the latest AVCA Division III Poll, improved to 5-2 overall. Mount Ida, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3.
The Gulls' co-captains were also key contributers. Senior outside hitter Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) had 12 kills and eight digs while senior setter Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) dished out 31 assists and came up with three blocks. Junior middle hitter George Chapell (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) chipped in a team-high four blocks.
Endicott travels to MIT Thursday night (7) before returning home Friday night versus New Haven (7).
