BEVERLY, MA - Johnson & Wales outlasted Endicott, 3-2 (30-27, 27-30, 23-30, 30-21, 16-14), to earn a date with Ramapo for fifth place. Endicott was powered by Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA) and Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL), who recorded 23 and 21 kills respectively, but the hosts could not hold on to its 2-1 advantage in games.
Joe Douglass (Beverly, MA/St. John's Prep) got six blocks and George Chapell (Haverhill, MA) added four blocks for EC while Jeremy Hamel (Industry, ME) dished out 50 helpers and Dan Coleman powered the defense with 30 digs. The freshman leads the tournament with 73 digs in three matches.
The Gulls will face MIT in the seventh place matchup. The Engineers dropped a 3-1 decision to Ramapo (30-28, 17-30, 30-24, 30-24) in a Pool B versus Pool C Silver Medal match.
Shane Donohue (Freehold, NJ) and David Ross (Perth Amboy, NJ) led the Roadrunners to a third place date against JWU. The duo recorded 20 and 19 kills, respectively while Jairro Sierra (Fair Lawn, NJ) dished out 41 assists and Brendan Whitford (Lyndhurst, NJ) dug up 16 balls in the win.
MIT got 19 kills from Pamidimukkala (Edison, NJ) and five blocks from Scott Pollom (Indianapolis, IN). Ryan Dean (Valencia, CA) had 41 assists and Matthew Ng (New York, NY) recorded 10 digs.
In the bronze medal games, Villa Julie defeated Wentworth, 3-0 (30-25, 31-29, 30-13) and will face MSOE at 12:00 PM for ninth place. MSOE downed Hunter College, 3-1 (30-22, 28-30, 30-28, 30-24). Hunter and Wentworth will meet for 11th place at noon.
