NEWTON, MA - Endicott College snapped a two-game skid Wednesday night, going on the road to drop Lasell in four games, 3-1 (30-28, 30-25, 31-33, 30-24).
The Gulls, who are ranked No. 15 in the AVCA Division III Coaches Poll, moved to 6-4 with the victory and 3-1 in the NECVA, while the Lasers fell to 1-7.
The Endicott captains led the way, but they received strong support from the underclassmen. Senior co-captains Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) and Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) blocks three balls apiece, while Hunter dished out 54 assists and Coflesky had 18 kills.
Freshman outside hitter Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville Regional) had another strong match for the Gulls, recording 24 kills, 13 digs, two aces and two blocks. Fellow freshmen Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis), an outside hitter, and Joe Douglass (Beverly, MA/St. John's Prep) bolstered the defense. Coleman's 25 digs led the team and Douglass blocked a game-high six attacks.
Junior Matt Keepin (Harwinton, CT/Lewis S. Millis) added 10 kills and five blocks while sophomore Jeremy Hamel (Industry, ME/Mount Blue) dug up 10 balls.
The Gulls commence a two-game two-night home stand beginning Thursday versus Mount Ida and finishing with Vasser. Both matches start at 7:00 PM.
