BEVERLY, MA - Despite getting a combined 22 points from senior co-captain Mike Coflesky (Royalston, MA/Athol) and freshman outside hitter Clay Ostrander (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton-Warrenville Regional), Endicott College lost to Vassar College, 3-0, Friday night at MacDonald Gymnasium in non-conference volleyball action.
Sophomore outside hitter Tom Pawlowski (Haverford, PA/Haverford) picked up a game-high 11 kills to help the Brewers record their first win of 2006 to improve to 1-4 overall. Freshmen outside hitter Scott Leserman (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa) and Steve Micucci (Millis, MA/Millis) provided nine kills apiece in the win and junior Wayne Coito (Mililani, HI/Kamehameha) chipped in eight kills.
The Gulls, meanwhile got 10 kills and 12 points from Ostrander and nine kills and 10 points from Coflesky but could not avoid falling to 7-5 overall.
Senior co-captain Eric Hunter (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) handed out 30 assists, three kills and one block for EC, while junior Matt Keeping (Harwinton, CT/Lewis S. Mills) added seven kills and four blocks in the loss. Freshman Joe Douglass (Beverly, MA/St. John's Prep) chipped in and ace and five blocks and freshman Dan Coleman (Millis, MA/Millis) led the hosts with 15 digs.
Endicott returns to action Tuesday night when it visits Wentworth (7) and Vassar will be a Harvard Saturday afternoon (2).
