Goucher Slips Past Men's Tennis, 5-4

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Endicott men's tennis team fell to Goucher College, 5-4, in non-conference action on Monday evening.

In doubles play, the pairing of George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Hudson De Risi (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) gave the Gulls their lone win in the opening part of the match with a hard-fought victory at No. 3 by an 8-7 (8-7) score.

From there, Endicott received victories from Janith Madhok (New Delhi, India)Brennan Nick (Tolland, Conn.), and Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) at No. 1 (6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 6-4), No. 2 (6-4, 6-1), and No. 3 (2-6, 6-3, 6-2), respectively.

"That was a fun, physical, fiery college tennis match," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We need to be more aggressive in doubles, but we fought hard at all spots. We will dial in for a quick turnaround into tomorrow.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • The Gophers are 2-0 at home this season. 
  • This is Endicott's second 5-4 loss in 2021-22.
