Nichols sweeps doubles, defeats Endicott, 7-2

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men’s tennis team swept doubles play en route to a 7-2 victory over Endicott in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at Francis W. Robinson Courts Wednesday afternoon. Nichols improves to 15-5 overall and 9-1 in the TCCC, while Endicott drops to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in TCCC action.

Nichols swept doubles play for the third match in a row and freshman Justin DeLuca (Mashpee, Mass.) won a marathon match at the top singles flight, defeating \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.), 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 1-0 (10-5), in just his second third-set match of the year.

The Bison also got wins at the second and third flights from David Drucker (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Steve Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.), but another lengthy battle at the No. 4 singles went in favor of the Gulls as \#Olivier Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.) bested Tyler McLaughlin (Hollis, N.H.) in a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) match.

Endicott received its second point at the fifth flight from \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) in a 6-2, 6-3 victory, but Dan Young (Washington Depot, Conn.) had already finished off \#Jake Cohen\# (Barrington, R.I.), 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Nichols wraps up the regular season on Saturday in an 11:00 a.m. TCCC match against Curry. Endicott hosts Gordon Friday at 3:30 p.m. for a TCCC match.
