BEVERLY, Mass. – The Western New England College men’s tennis team improved to 4-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference as the Golden Bears defeated Endicott College, 5-4, in tennis action on Wednesday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. WNEC pushes its overall record to 4-6 and drops the Gulls to a matching record of 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the TCCC.

Endicott raced out to an early 3-0 lead in the match as the Gulls picked up all three points in doubles play. \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.) and \#Devon Locke\# (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) defeated Brian Relihan (Orange, Conn.) and Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, while \#Mike D’Ambra\# (Barrington, R.I.) and \#Olivier Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.) picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles over Chris Holzinger (Roster, R.I.) and JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, Conn.). \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) and \#Scott Kitchen\# (Norwell, Mass.) knocked off Travis Orszulak (Springfield, Mass.) and Matt Minahan (Plymouth, Mass.) to finish off the doubles sweep.

Singles play was a much different story as \#Dan Murray\# was the lone EC player to pick up a win at No. 1 singles over Brian Relihan, 6-4, 7-5. The Gulls fell in No.’s 2-through-6 singles as WNEC picked up all five of its points needed to defeat the Blue and Green. JonPaul Ouellette needed a tie-break in his win at No. 4 singles against \#Porter Williams\# 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). \#Mike D’Ambra\# almost won his matchup but fell to Travis Orszalak, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

The Gulls look to drop a two game skid when Endicott travels to Eastern Nazarene on Saturday for a TCCC matchup at 1:00 p.m. WNEC hosts American International College in a non-conference match on Thursday scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
