ORLANDO, Fla. – The Endicott College men’s tennis team won the opening match of its 2010 campaign, 6-3, over St. Joseph’s College in a non-conference bout down in Orlando, Fla. Endicott’s \#Scott Kitchen\# (Norwell, Mass.) went unbeaten on the day to help the Gulls improve to 1-0.

Endicott started the day going up 2-1 following doubles play. The Gulls’ \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.) and \#Devon Locke\# (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) fell to Dan Celentano (Islip, N.Y.) and Erik Forsythe (Bay Shore, N.Y.), 8-5, at No. 1 doubles but \#Mike D’Ambra\# (Barrington, R.I.) and \#Olivier Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.) combined to defeat John Funk (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Nick Donadio (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) in No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-3. Kitchen and \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) rounded out the strong start to the day as the duo handed Steve Mazzeo (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and Andrew Boehm (Patchogue, N.Y.) an 8-0 loss at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Murray rebounded from a loss earlier in the day by defeating Dan Celentano with set scores of 7-5, 6-2. Erik Forsythe defeated \#Devon Locke\#, 6-2, 6-1, but the Gulls picked up wins in three of the final four singles matches to wrap up the 6-3 victory. \#Mike D’Ambra\# and \#Olivier Joggi\# won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, while \#Scott Kitchen\# defeated Andrew Boehm, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.

The Blue and Green return to action on Sunday as the Gulls will take on Hastings College at a time to be determined.
