Endicott nips local rival Salem State, 5-4

SALEM, Mass. – Endicott College posted a 5-4 decision over Salem State College in a non-conference men’s tennis match on Thursday at the Central Campus Tennis Courts in Salem, Mass. The Gulls move to 4-4 with the win while the Vikings fall to 1-4 on the season.

In doubles, \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.) and \#Devon Locke\# (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) gave Endicott the lead with a 8-3 victory. Sophomore Josh Giller and freshman Shawn Dowen proceeded to win one back for the Vikings 8-3. \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) and \#Scott Kitchen\# (Norwell, Mass.) finished strong (8-2) for Endicott sealing the win for the Gulls and ending the match 5-4.

In singles, senior Viking Adrien Malosse started out strong against Endicott's \#Dan Murray\# winning the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Locke responded by defeating Salem State's Rob Random who retired. Alex Esiath defeated \#Olivier Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.) in a close match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. While Williams went on to win 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 against Giller. Dowen won a point for the Vikings defeating Kitchen 6-1, 6-3. \#Jake Cohen\# (Barrington, R.I.) finished off singles with a win for the Gulls, 6-3, 6-0 against Aaron Goldsmith.

The Vikings (1-4) next hit the court when they face Gordon College in Wenham, Mass. on Thursday, April 8th. The Gulls (4-4) are in action again Monday April 5th, when they host Curry College in Beverly, Mass.
