Endicott holds off Colby-Sawyer, 5-4

NORTH DARTMOUTH, N.H. – The Endicott College men’s tennis team edged Colby-Sawyer College, 5-4, in each team’s The Commonwealth Coast Conference opener. The Gulls improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the TCCC while the Chargers drop to 2-6 and 0-1 in league games.

Endicott jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after winning at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. \#Dan Murray\# (Coventry, R.I.) and \#Devon Locke\# (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) defeated Gustav Norberg and Adam Whitman, 9-7, in No. 1 doubles while \#Scott Kitchen\# (Norwell, Mass.) and \#Porter Williams\# (Norwalk, Conn.) picked up an 8-4 win over Reeve Fidler and Bryan Racz.

In singles play, Murray needed a pair of tie-breaks to defeat Gustav Norberg, 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 while \#Olivier Joggi\# (Stoneham, Mass.) and \#Porter Williams\# secured wins at No.’s four and five singles to help Endicott hang on for the 5-4 win.

The Blue and Green return to action on Saturday as the Gulls host Roger Williams University in the team’s home opener at 1:00 p.m.
