Three Gulls Earn NFHCA Senior Team Honors

NFHCA SENIOR TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

BEVERLY, Mass. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) proudly recognized 60 members of the 2021 NFHCA Division III Senior Team on Monday, November 15, and the Endicott College field hockey program saw three of its own make the list. The honorees for the Gulls included Abby Carter (Richmond, Vt.), Taylor Farrin (Danvers, Mass.), and Sydney Poulin (Watertown, Mass.).

The members of the 2021 Division III Senior Team were initially announced during a live video presentation featuring member coaches on Monday afternoon. In lieu of the traditional coach-led trophy presentation at the NFHCA Senior Games — which were canceled due to limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic — coaches were given the opportunity to announce the name of their Senior Team honoree(s). In addition to the video announcement, a custom t-shirt featuring the names of all Senior Team members was created in honor of the award The t-shirts will be delivered to each honoree — along with a commemorative trophy — in the coming weeks. Family and friends can order their own Senior Team apparel through the NFHCA Senior Team store.

Carter capped off her senior campaign orchestrating an Endicott defense that only allowed a 1.51 goals-against average (GAA), qualifying for the lowest mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). She also notched a goal this season pushing her career total to three goals over the course of her collegiate career. Carter's leadership ability in the locker room and the field also made an important impact on the Gulls posting a 14-7 overall record and winning their third straight CCC Championship.

Meanwhile, Farrin found her way on the NFCHA list in large part to her tremendous performance in the cage for the Gulls. In 20 games this season, the senior goaltender compiled 95 saves, a .792 save percentage, and a 1.44 GAA, ranking first overall in the conference.

From there, Poulin played a pivotal role in the Gulls' season as the senior midfielder ranked second place in the league with 17 goals and 36 points, respectively. In competitions against Salve Regina and Springfield, Poulin scored consecutive hat-tricks in the contests (6), and followed up those two performances by posting another multi-goal game versus Gordon (2), elevating her total to eight goals within the three-game stretch. Overall, Poulin recorded four multi-goal games in her 17 starts this season.
