BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College pounded 19 hits and scored 22 runs, including seven in the bottom of the second, as the Gulls routed Anna Maria College, 22-4, in a TCCC playoff game on Thursday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The win moves Endicott (27-13) into the driver’s seat on Saturday when the Gulls will face the winner of Friday’s Western New England vs. Anna Maria matchup at 10:00 a.m.

\#Colin Sitarz\# (West Hartford, Conn.) went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored in the win. \#Mike Russo\# (Natick, Mass.) had a 4-for-5 afternoon with three runs scored and two RBI. Freshman \#Eric Lemke\# (Southington, Conn.) also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 while driving in two runs and scoring three times.

\#Aaron Santos\# (Cambridge, Mass.) had three RBI and scored twice while \#Andrew Betts\# (Bristol, Conn.) plated three runners. \#Brendan Pittsley\# (Plympton, Mass.) moved to 2-1 on the year with the win, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings of work.

The Gulls opened the day with a seven run second to quickly erase a one-run deficit. Anna Maria allowed the rally to occur as the AMCATS walked six batters and hit two others in the frame. In total, Endicott only had one hit in the seven-run burst.

The Blue and Green tacked on six runs in the bottom of the fifth, lacing seven hits in the inning. The Gulls added three in the sixth, including two on an RBI double from Santos. A five-run eighth capped off the scoring as the hosts connected for six more hits to raise the afternoon’s total to 19.

The loss drops Anna Maria to 20-18 overall and moves the AMCATS into a rematch with Western New England, a team AMC beat to open the tournament on Tuesday, 11-7. Endicott will face the winner of the AMCATS and Golden Bears on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. If Anna Maria wins then the Gulls will play at home, while if WNEC wins the Blue and Green will travel to Springfield to face the Golden Bears.
