NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Endicott baseball team jumped into a tie for first place in The Commonwealth Coast Conference standings on Thursday by winning both ends of a doubleheader over Colby-Sawyer. The Gulls took game one 8-4 and followed with an 8-2 victory in game two. Endicott improves to 24-12 overall and sit tied with Western New England atop the conference with identical 16-4 records. Colby-Sawyer dips to 14-18 overall and 9-13, which places them seventh in the playoff race.

The Gulls opened the game with a leadoff triple by freshman \#Eric Lemke\# (Southington, Conn.). He scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly from freshman \#Ralph Fidaleo\# (Fairfield, Conn.).

Endicott took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third on a two-RBI double from senior Aaron Santos (Cambridge, Mass.) and an RBI single from sophomore \#Colin Sitarz\# (West Hartford, Conn.). The Chargers scored three of their own in the home half of the third on RBI hits from junior Evan Leary (Concord, N.H.), sophomore Greg Mehuron (Waitsfield, Vt.), and junior Brandon McFadden (East Dummerston, Vt.).

The Endicott advantage was pushed back to three in the sixth when sophomore \#Mike Russo\# (Natick, Mass.) and senior \#Andrew Betts\# (Bristol, Conn.) each had an RBI hit. Colby-Sawyer got one run back in the bottom of the sixth but the Gulls added two more runs in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.
Senior \#Colin McGinn\# (Tolland, Conn.) threw a complete game and earned his sixth victory of the season for Endicott.

After three scoreless innings to start game two, Endicott scored four times in the fourth. Three of the runs were unearned. Russo had a big two-RBI double in the inning. The Gulls added another unearned run in the fifth before scoring two more in the top half of the sixth to take a 7-0 lead.

McFadden knocked in Mehuron for Colby-Sawyer’s first run in the bottom of the sixth. Mehuron added an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh pushing his batting average to .400 on the season.

Endicott got their second complete game of the day, this time from sophomore \#Benjamin Petrides\# (Belchertown, Mass.). He improves to 4-1 on the season. Senior Carter Malpass (Plymouth, Mass.) gave up just three earned runs in 5 1/3 for the Chargers.

Junior \#Chris Dominguez\# (Braintree, Mass.) led the Gulls in game two with a 3-for-4 effort, while Russo knocked in three runs.

Endicott faces Western New England on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. to decide first place in the standings. Colby-Sawyer will play non-conference opponent Castleton State on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
