WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Endicott College completed its annual Spring Break southern swing by splitting a doubleheader with Amherst College on Friday in Winter Haven, Florida. Endicott won the morning game by the score of 8-1, and then dropped the afternoon contest, 13-2. The Gulls complete the trip with a 4-5 record and return home for a Wednesday matchup against Salem State.

In game one, Endicott opened up a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning as freshman \#Eric Lemke\# (Southington, Conn.) poked a two run homerun to give the Gulls an early cushion. Endicott continued the scoring in both the fourth and fifth innings, as the Blue and Green scored three runs in each frame to take a commanding seven run lead.

The margin was all senior righty \#Colin McGinn\# (Tolland, Conn.) would need as he went the distance, allowing just one run on five hits in seven innings, all while registering five strikeouts to improve to 3-0 on the trip.

The Gulls’ offense was aided by a 3-for-3 effort from Lemke and a 2-for-2 afternoon for \#Aaron Santos\# (Cambridge, Mass.). Sophomore \#Mike Russo\# (Natick, Mass.) had a team-high three RBI in the win, including a two-run double in the fifth to blow the game wide open. Rookie \#Joe Kasabuski\# (Saugus, Mass.) had two hits with two runs scored to go along with one RBI in the victory.

It was all Lord Jeffs in the day’s second game. Amherst took advantage of three Endicott errors and piled on 11 hits to score 13 times. Max McKenna (Lexington, Mass.) pitched a complete game for the Jeffs, allowing only one earned run with four strikeouts and one walk.

Amherst’s bats came to life in the second inning when the Jeffs scored four runs on a single and three doubles by the bottom half of the lineup. Amherst added two runs in the third, one in the fourth and six in the sixth.

Nolan Stewart (New Canaan, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a solo homer. Thomas Wheeler (Minnetonka, Minn.) scored three runs and drove in another during a 2-for-3 performance, while Mike Samela (Westport, Conn.) was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Jose Espinosa (Ridgefield, Conn.) added two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Scott Shaffer (Boulder, Colo.) hit a two-RBI double, and Wagner went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.

Endicott, who had 10 hits in the nightcap but managed to score only twice, was paced by a 3-for-3 performance from \#Colin Sitarz\# (West Hartford, Conn.). Kasabuski also had a 3-for-3 showing at the dish with an RBI, while Russo finished with one hit and drove in one in the setback.

The Gulls had some outstanding individual performances on the trip, including a ridiculous .600 batting average from \#Colin Sitarz\#. The sophomore had 18 hits in 30 at-bats, totaling 24 bases and slugging at a team-best .800 clip. His six doubles was also a team-high. Endicott hit .335 as a squad over the nine-game stretch.

\#Colin McGinn\# led the pitching staff with a 3-0 record and .068 ERA. McGinn surrendered just one earned run in 13.1 innings of work, striking out 12 batters and walking just three. The EC senior only allowed eight combined hits in his three appearances.
