Five-run seventh lifts Gulls past Vikings

SALEM, Mass. - Endicott College rallied from a 2-1 deficit by scoring five runs in the top of seventh inning, edging North Shore neighbor Salem State College, 8-5, in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon in Salem, Mass. The win improves the Gulls to 5-5 overall, while the Vikings slip below .500 to 5-6.

\#Chris Dominguez\# ( Braintree, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with a homerun and three RBI's to help Endicott to the win. Dominguez hit a solo homerun off starter Mario Padovanni in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie.

Salem State came back to take the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Joe Galindo (Monument, Colo.) led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a single by Devon Davis (Abington, Mass.). Troy Ingemi (Malden, Mass.), who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, followed with a two-run single to give Salem State a 2-1 lead.

Endicott regained the lead in the seventh inning when they scored five runs to knock Padovanni, who gave up six runs on nine hits, from the game. \#Aaron Santos\# (Cambridge, Mass.) hit a double and \#Ralph Fidaleo\# (Fairfield, Conn.) followed with a walk. Dominguez and \#Mike Russo\# (Natick, Mass.) hit back-to-back run scoring singles. \#Joe Kasabuski\# (Saugus, Mass.) then drove in two runs with a double and \#Joe Klein\# (Monroe, Conn.) hit a pinch-hit RBI double to make the score 6-2.

The Vikings drew to within 7-5 in the eighth inning when Evan Valcourt (Salsbury, Mass.) hit an RBI double and Galindo followed with a run-scoring single. However, Endicott added another run in the ninth on an RBI single by \#Colin Sitarz\# (West Hartford, Conn.) to make the final 8-5.

The Gulls used five different pitchers on the day. \#Benjanmin Petrides\# (Belchertown, Mass.) started and pitched one inning not allowing any runs. \#Nick Kelley\# (Malden, Mass.) and \#Kevin Dupras\# (Belchertown, Mass.) followed pitching four innings in relief. Dupras allowed two runs and two hits in two innings pitched, while Kelly didn't allow any runs or hits in two innings. \#Rich Yutkins\# (Billerica, Mass.) entered in the sixth and pitched two and one third innings allowing three runs on four hits to pick up the win.

Salem State faces Rhode Island College at home tomorrow afternoon, while the Gulls travel to Wheaton College on Friday.
