Hartman Claims CCC Rookie Of The Week Honors

Gretta Hartman hits a forehand.

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott women's tennis student-athlete Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today. It also marks the second time in three weeks Hartman has received the accolade.

In three straight 9-0 victories for the Gulls last week (9/11-9/17), Hartman collected five total wins, combined, in matches at No. 1 & No. 2 singles, and No. 1 doubles. Highlighting the week for Hartman was a 6-7 (0-7), 6-1, 10-4 gutsy comeback victory at No. 1 singles against Salem State on September 14. Hartman's other wins included identical 6-1, 6-1 decisions at No. 2 singles against Wentworth and Eastern Nazarene, and only lost one combined game at No. 1 doubles with partner Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) versus the same two opponents.

WHATS NEXT

The Gulls (5-1, 3-1 CCC) will host Gordon on Tuesday, September 19 at home, and also take on Roger Williams in Bristol, Rhode Island on Saturday, September 23 at 1 PM. Tuesday's match against Gordon will also serve as Senior Day for Endicott, where Bergstein will be honored prior to the match for her contributions towards the program and the Endicott Community.
