Women’s Tennis Breezes Past Wentworth, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team made quick work of visiting Wentworth on Wednesday afternoon by posting a 9-0 league victory over the Leopards at the South Campus Courts.

Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) stood out in singles for the Gulls as the duo notched identical 6-0, 6-0 triumphs in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively. Rahr's win at No. 5 singles clinched the match for Endicott.

In doubles action, Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) notched an 8-1 victory at No. 1, while the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings of Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.)/Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Rahr/Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.) notched 8-2 wins in their respective spots in the lineup.

"It's was nice to get another league win under our belt today," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "However, we have to turn the page quickly on today's vcitory as we play Salem State on Thursday and Eastern Nazarene on Saturday."

  • Barnett improved to 3-1 at No. 1 singles with her 6-1, 6-2 victory.
  • Hartman is now 2-1 overall at No. 2 singles after today's 6-1, 6-1 win.
  • Fitzgibbons is 3-1 overall in the No. 3 spot for the Gulls with her 6-1, 6-0 decision this evening.
  • Alexi Losano (Saugus, Mass.) bumped her record to 2-1 at No. 6 singles after today's 6-0, 6-1 triumph.

Endicott (3-1, 2-1 CCC) hosts Salem State tomorrow in a non-league contest at 3:30 PM. Wentworth (0-4, 0-3 CCC) travels to Simmons College on Saturday for a non-conference match at 12 PM.
