Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Salve Regina, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team blanked visiting Salve Regina University, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts. 

Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.), Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.), and Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) were all double-winners for the Gulls. 

Meanwhile, Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) and Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.) picked up victories at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0) and No. 6 (6-1, 6-0) singles, respectively, and doubles teammates Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) and Alexandra Barmore (Southington, Conn.) registered an 8-0 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

"Great to get back in the win column after the battle on Thursday against Nichols," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "We received solid playing up and down the lineup today and after a little time off we will gear up for Wentworth on Wednesday."

  • Endicott has defeated Salve Regina by a 9-0 score for the past five seasons.
  • Freter is undefeated at No. 4 singles this season (3-0)
  • Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) earned an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles with Bergstein.
  • Doubles pairings Bergstein/Hartman and Barnett/Fitzgibbons are 3-0, respectively, on the year (No. 1/No. 2).
  • Foley picked up her first career singles win today.

Endicott (2-1, 1-1 CCC) hosts Wentworth on Wednesday, September 13 in league action at 3:30 PM. Salve Regina (0-3, 0-2 CCC) welcomes Curry to its campus next Wednesday for a conference matchup at 3:30 PM.
