Endicott Falls to Springfield 2-1 In Non-Conference Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Endicott women's soccer team took to the road for their first of two straight away games from the Nest and fell to NEWMAC foe Springfield College by a 2-1 final on Tuesday night.

Down 1-0 at the half following an Amanda Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) goal, the Gulls fell behind 2-0 in the 56th minute as Nicole Fowler (Hudson, Mass.) registered an unassisted strike, her third of the season.

Endicott got on the board with just over five minutes left in regulation to make it 2-1 but would not be able to score again as the Pride would move to 5-1-1 (1-0 NEWMAC) on the season. The Gulls fall to 2-5 (1-1 CCC) with the loss.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • Endicott's Brady Sezon (Easton, Conn.) scored her first career goal for the Gulls as she registered a team high two shots in the setback.
  • Sophomore keeper Caroline Armbruster (Stowe, Vt.) made seven saves on the nine shots she faced, setting a career high by three.
  • Somewhat surprisingly, this was the first ever meeting between the two programs, both of which have been staples in the New England regional rankings in their respective program's histories.

FOR THE FOES

  • The 18 total shots and 10 shots on goal for the Pride were a season high for an Endicott opponent in 2015.
  • Springfield is now 2-0-1 when Fowler scores a goal this season, as the goal was the 22nd of her career.
  • For Wright, the goal was the first of her career, which came after she registered six total shots on the year previously.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-5, 1-1 CCC) travels to Roger Williams on Saturday for a tough mid-season CCC contest that is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. The Gulls are 16-8-3 against Roger Williams all-time and are 1-0-2 against the Hawks in the last three meetings between the two programs. Five of the previous seven meetings between the two teams have advanced to at least double overtime, including the last three consecutive matches.  Springfield (5-1-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) travels to MIT for a pivotal conference battle on Saturday as well.
