Second Half Goal Downs Endicott At Keene State

Second Half Goal Downs Endicott At Keene State

KEENE, N.H.- The Endicott women's soccer team travelled north to take on Keene State on Saturday and fell to the Owls 1-0. The Gulls now fall to 1-1 on the season.

Both teams played to a 0-0 tie at the half after both offenses struggled to mount much of an attack. The Gulls and Owls registered one shot on goal, respectively, with Keene State holding a slight 4-2 advantage in total shots.

The Gulls were able to earn five corners in the first half to just one for the Owls, while Endicott was whistled for seven fouls to three for Keene.

Endicott keeper Kristin Hartlage (Niskayuna, N.Y.) made one of her four saves in the first half, which her Keene St. counterpart, Danielle Warhall (Spofford, N.H.) matched.

The two teams returned to the field and played nearly another 30 minutes of scoreless soccer before junior Sierra Trzepacz (Enfield, Conn.) notched her first career tally to put the Owls on top 1-0.

Just 30-seconds later, Taylor O'Donnell (Stratham, N.H.) made a strong bid for her first collegiate goal but a diving save by Warhall kept the score 1-0 in favor of the Owls, a score that held through until the end of regulation.

With the win, Warhall and the Owls improve to 1-1 on the season, while Hartlage and the Gulls see their records dip to 1-1.

BEYOND THE BOX

  • Seeing her first game action in college, Abigail Silverstein (Katonah, N.Y.) registered the first two shots of her career.
  • With the loss to the Owls, Endicott is now 2-7 against Keene St. all-time, and 0-5 when playing at Keene.
