Murphy and Whitney Take CCC Weekly Honors

CCC Athletes of the Week Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has announced their weekly awards, and senior Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) and freshman Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) received honors. Murphy posted her first Offensive Player of the Week nod while Whitney is taking her fourth Rookie of the Week award.

Last Friday, both Murphy and Whitney were recognized by the conference with major awards, Murphy taking Co-Offensive Player of the Year while Whitney became the first Rookie of the Year honoree for the Endicott women's lacrosse program.

Murphy posted a stellar game against Curry last week as she managed a career high 10 points with five goals and five assists in the 17-7 victory. In the triumph the attacker also posted three draw controls, a caused turnover and five shots on goal for a 83.3 shots on goal percentage. Murphy had a hand in 10 of the 17 goals scored against Curry. The senior recently surpassed Assistant Coach Morgan DeShaw in total career assists with 89.

Whitney had a large hand in the victory in their regular season finale against Curry. The attacker tallied six points (her second six point game of the season), with five goals (her second five goals game) and an assist. The freshman also posted a tally in all but one category for the Gulls with a groundball, a draw control, and a caused turnover.

The Gulls will take the field on Wednesday, April 30th at Endicott Stadium for a CCC Semifinals showdown against cross-town rival Gordon at 4:00 p.m.
