Whitney Earns Second Consecutive Rookie of the Week Nod

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced their weekly awards and freshman Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) of the women's lacrosse team earned her second straight Rookie of the Week honor. Endicott went 1-1 last week falling to #17 Tufts while defeating conference opponent Salve Regina to remain undefeated in conference play. The Gulls sit at 11-2 (6-0 CCC).

Endicott women's lacrosse has now earned Rookie of the Week honors for six straight weeks. Whitney and teammate Meghan Lennon (Canton, Mass.) have each earned three.

Whitney helped lead the Gulls to a 1-1 week and posted an impressive game against nationally ranked #17 Tufts where the attacker posted four goals and one assist against a Jumbos team that holds a 10.44 goals against average (GAA). To cap off the game Whitney only posted four shots on goal, with all four finding the back of the net against a goalkeeper who holds a .350 save percentage in the tough NESCAC ring. Against Salve Regina the rookie hit a goal and an assist in the 15-7 victory. Whitney is currently leading the team in goals (33) and is third in assists (10).

Endicott will play next on Tuesday, April 15th against conference rival Western New England. The game will be a battle between the two squads who both remain undefeated in the CCC. The winner could earn the #1 seed in the conference tournament and have the advantage of hosting all round of play. Tomorrow's game will also mark a time to celebrate the five seniors on the women's lacrosse team.
