Women’s Lacrosse Headlines CCC Major Awards, Seven Receive All-Conference Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has released the 2014 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team. Three Gulls took major awards while seven earned All-Conference Team honors, which was announced on Friday morning. This season marks the first time that the program tabbed Offensive, Defensive and Rookie of the Year awards in the same year.

Senior Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.) was named CCC Co-Offensive Player of the year while Senior Kelsey Barnes (Mendham, N.J.) collected her second consecutive CCC Defensive Player of the Year nod. Freshman Emily Whitney (Rye, N.H.) gave the Endicott women's lacrosse program their first ever Rookie of the Year honoree.

Joining Murphy, Barnes and Whitney on the All-Conference First Team is junior midfielder Ellie Clayman (Beverly, Mass.). Earning a Second-Team mention for the Blue and Green is senior midfielder Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Wrapping up the awards is junior Siri Mason (Williamstown, Mass.) and freshman Chelsea Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) who earned a place on the Honorable Mention selection.

Murphy, who earns her third All-CCC selection in her four-year career, enters the postseason ranked third in the CCC with total assists (37) and fifth in total points (70). The attacker is ranked 41st among NCAA DIII players in assists per game with 2.00. Murphy has started and played in every game this season for the Blue and Green compiling 33 goals to go along with her assists. She netted five goals in two different games and tallied five assists twice as well. With her impressive playmaking ability this season Murphy currently sits at No. 2 all-time for the Endicott women's lacrosse program in career assists (89).

Barnes, who earns her fourth All-CCC selection, has consistently been a huge contributor to the Endicott defense this season and throughout her career. The senior helped lead the CCC's top ranked defense that has only allowed 55 goals in conference play while holding an overall 8.88 (6.88 CCC) goals against average. The Blue and Green's defensive unit, under the leadership of Barnes, ranks third in the CCC in caused turnovers compiling 77 as a whole. Barnes has started and played in every game this season for the Gulls assisting in the triumph over national ranked Bates that put the Endicott women's lacrosse team on the map nationally. The senior finished the regular season with 19 groundballs, 17 caused turnovers and ten draw controls.

Whitney has posted an impressive rookie campaign as she earned three CCC Rookie of the Week honors this season to help boost her to the programs first ever Rookie of the Year winner. Whitney is the Blue and Green's leading goal scorer (42) and second in total points (53). The freshman posted two games this season with six points for a game high while also posted two five goal games. The attacker leads the Gulls in man-up goals (3) and shots-on goal (55) with an impressive 88.7 shots on goal percentage.

Clayman earns her first CCC honor after scoring 30 goals and racked up 40 total points on the season for the Gulls. Campos has earned her second straight All-CCC nod for her efforts this season. The senior is second on the team in draw controls (60) while the midfielder has also compiled 19 points and 19 caused turnovers, a team high. Mason and Burke are also first time honoree's as Mason posed a strong junior campaign in the midfield with 19 points and 26 groundballs. Her season was highlighted by her four goal effort, and game-winning goal against #13 Bates. Burke wrapped up her rookie campaign in the midfield playing in every game for the Blue and Green and earning 12 starts while posting 14 groundballs, six draw controls and six caused turnovers.

Endicott will open up their 2014 CCC tournament run on Wednesday, April 30th in the semifinals, where they will face the winner of #6 Curry at #3 Gordon in the quarterfinal round. Endicott will look to bring home the programs ninth straight conference title.
