Emerson Tops Women’s Tennis, 5-4

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team fell to Emerson, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. 

The Blue and Green edged the Lions in doubles flights, 2-1. 

No. 1 Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) and No. 3 Ashley Klauck (Magnolia, Texas) / Sofia Montoya (Wenham, Mass.) each cruised to an 8-2 triumph before singles play.

In singles action, No. 3 Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) and No. 4 Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) registered 6-1, 6-3, and 6-4, 6-4 triumphs, respectively.

"We competed well and applied a lot of what we work on in practice. Tough result but a great experience for us to be in close matches," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are now 7-1 at the South Campus Courts.
  • Montoya is 3-0 in doubles play in 2023-24.
  • Fleming moved to 7-2 this season in singles.

Endicott (11-7) visits Brandeis on Sunday, April 21 at 11:00 AM. Emerson (3-11) remains on the road against Salve Regina tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
