Women’s Tennis Tops Nichols In Hard-Fought Victory, 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Nichols, 6-3, on Thursday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the South Campus Courts.

In doubles flights, the hosts took a 2-1 advantage to capture momentum heading into singles.

Endicott's No. 1 doubles duo of Ripley Uyeda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) earned a gritty 8-6 victory. At No. 2, Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) / Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) produced a hard-earned 8-7 (7-2) triumph.

In singles, the Blue and Green continued their winning ways courtesy of No. 3 Martinelli and No. 1 Guster behind scores of 6-1, 6-3, and 6-3, 6-2, respectively. 

Endicott's deep lineup proved to be the difference as  No. 4 Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) clinched the victory for the second straight match (6-0, 6-2), while No. 5 Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) rounded out the scoring (7-6 (8-6), 6-4).

"Today was a good test. It was competitive and chippy, at times, but that's college tennis. Our 13 student-athletes are very together, and it's been helping us with facing adversity", said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo.
