Women’s Tennis Handles Gordon, 8-1

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Gordon, 8-1, on Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

The Blue and Green captured an early lead in the match by taking two out of the three double flights. 

At No. 3, the duo of Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) and Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) posted an 8-4 triumph, while Kaitlin Fitzgibbons (Nashua, N.H.) and Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) earned an 8-6 victory at No. 2 to round out doubles.

In singles, the Gulls were in full command of the match behind strong play by Woods, Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.), and Henry at the No. 5 (6-3, 6-4), No. 6 (6-4, 6-3) and No. 2 (6-3, 6-2) positions, respectively. 

The remaining singles wins included Ripley Uyeda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif) at No. 1 (6-1, 6-4), Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) at No. 4 (7-6 (7-5), 6-0), and Fitzgibbons at No. 3 (6-4, 2-6, 7-5).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls have come away victorious in the last 23 meetings against the Fighting Scots dating back to 9/25/2006.
  • Woods and Molina remain undefeated as a double pairing this fall (2-0). 
  • Fitzgibbons and Henry picked up a team-high third victory as a duo in 2023-24.
  • The Gulls picked up their first win away from the South Campus Courts this season.

Endicott (2-1) hosts Nichols tomorrow, September 28 at 3:00 PM. Gordon (3-2) welcomes Roger Williams on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 AM.
