Women’s Tennis Blanks Western New England, 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Western New England, 9-0, on Monday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the South Campus Courts.

The Blue and Green produced an early advantage in the contest by sweeping all three doubles matches before heading into singles. 

At No. 1, Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) / Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) turned in a quick 8-0 sweep while, Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) / Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) manufactured an 8-1 triumph. 

To round out the doubles flights, Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) / Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2.

The Gulls continued their dominant ways in singles as Molina, Fleming, and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) collected victories at the No. 3 (6-0, 6-0), No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), and No. 1 (6-0, 6-0) positions. 

Endicott also saw No. 2 Woods (6-0, 6-0), No. 5 Mendonca (6-1, 3-6, 10-6), and No. 6 Sofia Montoya (Wenham, Mass.) (7-6, 6-7, 10-6) produce wins to complete the sweep.

"It was nice to see us stay aggressive and generate our own pace, which needed to happen a lot. We will enjoy the win and move forward," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Following today's matchup, Henry leads the team with four doubles wins. 
  • Fleming is undefeated in singles action this fall (3-0).
  • The duo of Molina and Woods haven't lost as a doubles pairing in 2023 (3-0).
  • The Gulls are 3-0 at The Nest this season.
  • Endicott is 7-2 in doubles flights during conference play.

Endicott (4-2, 3-0 CCC) travels to Roger Williams tomorrow, October 3 at 4:00 PM. Western New England (2-4, 1-2 CCC) hosts Suffolk tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
