Beverly, MA-- With a win over Nichols College, the Endicott Gulls advance to the Commonwealth Coast Conference Finals. EC defeated the Bison by a score of 3-0. Play shifted back and forth throughout the semifinal game.
Leah Walters led the Gulls with two goals, her 11th and 12th of the season. In the 9th minute of play, Walters scored her first goal of the game, coming from a perfectly placed Caitlin D'Amario pass in the box. Capitalizing on her shot, Walters scored the game-winning goal. The Gulls took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
Coming out fired up in the second half, EC scored in the 47th minute. Freshman Erica Hunt scored her second goal of the season, by finding the gap between the NC goalkeeper and the near post. EC added to their two-goal advantage in the 84th minute. Walters netted her second goal, by picking up a loose ball in the box, off a Staci Wiencko free kick.
Sarah Nichols earned the shutout in net for the Gulls with three saves. Dominating in the midfield for EC were senior co-captain Stacey Lubas and freshman Margreta Weber. Their ability to defend and attack helped the Gulls remain on top.
As the number \#1 seed, the Gulls host the Salve/Wentworth winner this Saturday at 1p.m. for the CCC Championship Title.
