Beverly, MA-- In the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference, the Endicott Gulls hosted the New England College Pilgrims. Endicott's Stacey Lubas led the Gulls to a 3-0 victory, scoring two goals.
In the 22nd minute of play, Jillian Zagura served the ball across the box to an oncoming Lubas. Picking up her own rebound, Lubas fired a shot into the net, giving EC the 1-0. Continuing to dominate throughout the first half, the Gulls put constant pressure on the NEC defense. With under a minute remaining, Lubas ripped a shot from the 25-yard line, and through NEC's back line, giving EC the 2-0 lead going into halftime.
Determined to add to their lead, the Gulls continued their offensive attack in the second half. EC had numerous chances, but couldn't capitalize until the 88th minute. Senior Co-Captain Katrina Perkins dribbled at the NEC defense and fired a shot on goal. The ball sailed into the upper corner of the net, capping the score at three.
The women improve their overall record to 14-4. With the win, the Gulls advance to the CCC semifinals. As the \#1 seed, EC hosts the winner of the Curry/Nichols game this Tuesday. Kickoff is TBA.
