MILTON, MA - The Endicott College women's lacrosse team advanced to its third consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship game with a 19-14 win over Curry College on Thursday afternoon.
EC had to battle back from a two goal deficit at the half after falling behind 10-8 in the first 30 minutes of play. The Gulls rallied in the second half out shooting Curry 20-12, and converting on three of four free position shot opportunities to out score the Colonels 11-4 in the frame, taking the 19-14 win.
Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union) stepped up in a big way for the Gulls as she scored six goals and dished out two assists for a game high eight points. Molly Moss (Yarmouth, ME/North Yarmouth Academy) and Sarah Gunter (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) also had big games for the Blue and Green as the pair each found the net four times.
Valerie Feldman (Albany, NY/Guilderland) continued her impressive rookie campaign notching three goals and an assist while Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) added two goals and a team high four draw controls.
Endicott goalkeeper Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) made 14 saves while facing 28 shots to pick up the win. Nikki MacKay led the way for the Colonels, scoring four goals and handing out a pair of assists. Meg Griffin stopped 15 shots for Curry in the loss.
The Colonels handed EC one of their two conference losses during the regular season but the Blue and Green had the final word as they will now play Gordon College in an attempt to defend their 2006 CCC title. The Gulls (12-4) head to Wenham on Saturday to take on the Fighting Scots (13-2) with a tentative start time of 1:00 pm.
