WENHAM, MA - The Endicott College women's lacrosse team fell to North Shore rival Gordon College, 17-9, in Commonwealth Coast Conference play this afternoon at Brigham Athletic Complex in Wenham, MA.
Less than a minute into play Amber Whalen (Colorado Springs, CO) opened the scoring for the Fighting Scots after taking a feed from Annie Cameron (South Hamilton, MA). Gordon got three goals from Dani Zorn (Mercer Island, WA) over the next five minutes giving the Scots a 4-0 lead.
The Gulls got on the board with just under 20-minutes to play in the first half when sophomore attack Alex Pearce (Underhill, VT/Kimball Union) found the back of the net on a free-position shot. EC cut Gordon's lead down to, 4-2, on a goal from Emily Judd (Peabody, MA/Peabody) who was assisted by Valerie Feldman (Albany, NY/Guilderland).
Gordon would make it 5-2 before the Gulls struck again as Feldman scored a free-position shot to keep it a two goal game with just under ten minutes to play in the half. Pearce would add another goal with 7:05 to play but the Scots added a pair of goals to end the period with a 7-4 lead.
The Fighting Scots notched two goals to begin the period followed by three consecutive goals from Whalen which made it a 14-6 game with 14:29 to play in the half. Pearce scored back-to-back goals cutting the lead to eight with just under five minutes to play. Feldman found the net again in the final 2:24 but Gordon held on to take the 17-9 win.
Endicott goalkeeper Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) made eight saves in the loss. Pearce netted four goals to up her season total to 24, while Feldman's assist and two goals gave her a team high 41 points on the season.
Endicott falls to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the CCC. The Gulls return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host conference rivals New England College at 1 pm in Beverly, MA.
